My Great Great Grandfather was 3rd Mate on the Maiden voyage of the Whaleship Speedwell. His Name was Franklin B. Hammett.

The Whaleship Speedwell is seen off Gay Head in this Painting. It just so happens that as my great Great Grandfather Franklin B Hammett was sailing 3rd Mate on the maiden voyage of the speedwell , my other Great Great Grandfather Samuel Howard Flanders was performing His duties as the the Gay Head Lighthouse Keeper!
